Level 1 - Introduction to Underwater Archaeology (IUAA) Certificate
x

This two-day course, normally over a weekend, introduces underwater archaeology as a scientific investigation and its associated methodology.  Dry practical sessions include Project Planning,  Safe Diving,  Legislation and Archaeological Project design, as well as the principles of non-intrusive survey.  The course includes two open water dives, looking at Initial Reconnaissance and Basic Sketch Planning.  It is very popular amongst undergraduate students and recreational divers wishing to start their underwater archaeology training and is ideally suited for current UK divers.

Individuals who do not meet the pre-requisites can participate as a non-diver, and then complete diver training with TUSG prior to the start of any preferred project.  The Archaeological Divers Association has successfully trained individuals at BS'AC Ocean Diver Level, including Dry-suit and Nitrox training, during the immediate 4-days before the start of the Level 1 course, something that the Instructors will be keen to continue in the future.
